First up what an amazing turn out by our fantastic volunteers young and old and everything in between, there was also lots of interest from people passing lots of ideas and thoughts how we can bring the area back to former glories.
We managed to remove around a third of the duck weed and slime good news is there is plenty of Elodea Densa which is a natural plant and aerator, all the rubbish and a traffic cone were also removed along with large tree trunks.(Thanks to Belfour Beatty for taking the rubbish away 12 bags).
Flower beds were weeded and tidied up.
Going forward we will carrying out consultations, working with all the appropriate agencies and organising another clean up day in September.
If you go down to the duck pond you will see sand bags floating they are filled with barley straw as barley straw rots, it releases compounds which stop algae and blanket weed growth.
Again thank you to the volunteers it was a really positive day enjoy the pictures.
