A special tour of Radio 2 Terry Walton’s allotment in the Rhondda

It was a beautiful day so first off we had lunch at the fab Honey Cafe at Bronnlys and then on to Llanfaes Dairy Ice Cream for icecream in Brecon. Well fuelled we headed to TonyPandy (thanks especially to Andrew Thomas and Nessie Thomas for driving their bus) where we listened to tales from Terry about how he came to taste his first homegrown radish and how he rented an allotment then 10 when he was just a boy. We found out about composting, onions, comfrey, tomatoes, companion planting and what Terry thinks about herbicides, pesticides and indeed the moon. We loved it. What a trip. Lots of memories made and a fabulous day.

Thank you Terry Walton You know our Rotary Club has members in every decade from their 30’s to their 80’s and from ALL walks of life. There’s a common goal – wanting to give back to the community locally and internationally and at the same time have fun. If you think this might just be you – let me know and we will invite you along to a meeting very soon. It’s a really great club, lots going on…
